I am a Ph.D. student of Cognitive Psychology at the University of Colorado in Boulder. Don't be fooled by the name of the field: I spend my time making mathematical and computational models — I'm passionate about machine learning and artificial intelligence. I am primarily interested in computer models of learning and representation. You can read more about my research on my academic page.
RE: Programming
I have been programming longer than I can remember, doing it for work and for fun. There's been lots of MATLAB, C, Objective-C, python, Java, and R (and historically, Logo, BASIC, and MIPS and ARM assembly). See a portfolio of some of my Projects.
I'm passionate about designing and writing excellent software whether it's for science, utilities to make my life a little easier, or my more recent ventures into writing user-facing sotware with a larger install base than I ever bargained for.
RE: Website
This website is backed by a custom CMS coded in python by yours truly and runs on Google App Engine. It can take as much of a beating as I've been able to get the web to throw at it (peak > 1000 hits per day; average > 100 hits per day) and operates at minimal expense ― it was free until Google changed the billing scheme for AppEngine apps.
RE: Music
I'm self-taught on the guitar, and have been playing since about 2001. Some videos I made of my playing gained some popularity on YouTube around 2006. I have been slowly organizing a bunch of recordings I have lying around, and eventually putting them in the music section of this site.
